Dr. Alberto Sanz is the Principal Investigator and University Research Fellow at the Institute for Cell and Molecular Biosciences & Newcastle University Institute for Ageing, Newcastle University. His primary research focus is to understand the role of mitochondria in health and disease, and how mitochondrial function is affected by the aging process. Dr. Sanz's laboratory works to develop strategies to preserve mitochondrial function during ageing in order to extend lifespan.
