Professor at Vrije Universiteit Brussel and head of the Gerontology (www.vub.ac.be/GERO) and Frailty in Ageing research (www.vub.ac.be/FRIA) departments. He has served as the president of the Belgian Society of Gerontology and Geriatrics. He is an expert in Biogerontological research: with a particular focus on sarcopenia and inflammation.  ​
